Nature's Way
Nature to me means a lot of things. It means that I'll always have a place where I can be myself. A place where I can receive healing and peace. A place where there is no one anywhere telling me what to do or how to act. Nature means a safe space. Rejuvenation and forgiveness. A place where I do not compare myself to other people. It means letting free of my thoughts. Nature means Hiding and protection. It means life and death. A place where its just me my soul and body with the earth as one. It means feeling empowered and strong. I experienced these feelings at an internship I did In May of 2019 at Wild Willow Farm an educational farm created by the community. I was constantly being challenged physically and mentally, I would have to speak words of life and manifest them. “You are strong, you are strong” I whispered under my breath everytime I would pick up a wheelbarrow or a twenty gallon bucket to and from one side of the farm. I would surprise myself every single day that I worked, in new ways that I could not imagine. There were many things that I took from that internship, for example the sense of family that I got from the people working there and barely even knowing each other helped me gain my confidence in society again. My new family also assisted me in reconnecting myself to the earth. They themselves did not do anything in specific but their actions spoke louder to me than their words. They were always content and worry less, I craved that feeling so I took their advice of “just letting go, let the soil do the work” another intern working there named Julia Smiles said. My life was Immediately shifted the peace that people search for, the empty void people always try to fill, the constant sadness I felt was gone and it has remained out of my life. I spent four weeks working in nature and it only took one moment to lay in its loving arms, and for that nature will remain my cup of water.
